[en] Something's outdated in how the future is depicted today. Yes, the future looks old. N O R M A L S gazes with fascination at the networked me-fest, its servers full of cute cat videos and wishes to celebrate this cultural legacy in a work of fiction. Paris – July 3, 2012 – Since February, N O R M A L S is a creative and independent initiative of design, programming and writing. We aim at giving shape to a pending post-industrial future of printed goods, entertainment and liking. Starting fresh, our design tools are custom-coded, research is thick, and future scenarios come in relatable stories. Coming as a publication, our work will consist of short-stories, a design research journal and more importantly, the first three episodes of a graphic-novel taking you on a tour in our anticipated future. This constitutes a cross-media and coherent body of work we've entitled 'N O R M A L S'. |
[fr] Il y a quelque chose de désuet dans la façon dont le futur est représenté aujourd'hui. Oui, le futur a pris un coup de vieux. N O R M A L S contemple avec fascination la cyber-foire aux égos, ses serveurs remplis de vidéos de chats mignons, et rend hommage à cet héritage culturel par la fiction. Paris – 3 Juillet 2012 – Depuis février, N O R M A L S est une initiative créative indépendante conjugant design, programmation et écriture. Notre objectif est de donner forme à un futur post-industriel de produits imprimés, de divertissement et de 'like'. Partis de rien, nos outils de design sont programmés sur mesure, notre recherche est profonde et nos scénarios d'anticipation sont racontés dans des histoires. Notre travail prendra la forme d'une publication réunissant un recueil de nouvelles, un journal de recherches en design, mais surtout les trois premiers épisodes d'une bande-dessinée vous proposant de faire un tour dans ce futur anticipé. Ceci constitue une oeuvre interdisciplinaire et cohérente que nous avons intitulée 'N O R M A L S'. |
